Request for feedback from East Asian languages for WordPress 3.4 core modifications.

In #8759, I’m looking for feedback for the editor word counts.

In #16079, I’m looking for feedback for the length of auto-generated excerpts.

If you could test the code and post in the relevant tickets, it would be much appreciated.

Urgent for sr_RS and ja. @tenpura, has the WP Multibyte Patch been updated since 3.2.0? It appears so from the SVN log.

Due to some changes in 3.2, core will not update the bundled plugin after it is initially installed. We can fix this in 3.3. I need to know ASAP if 3.2.1 will need an exception to allow this plugin to be updated.

@miladin You’re the only other locale with a plugin in /dist/. Looks like you’re in the clear for now, yes?

I haven’t updated that plugin and will not for 3.2.1.

In future, update will be needed only if something changes in core related to gettext filters.

I just knew this issue. Since 3.1.4 to 3.2.0 does not seem to update the bundled plugin, I am very grateful if 3.2.1 could update WP Multibyte Patch. Is it too late to do so?

        Yes, it is too late.

The solution would be to put wp-multibyte-patch into the plugin directory. An initial install can add the plugin, and users can then update it from there.

Ok, it looks like the only solution is the plugin directory for me now.
Could this be fixed in 3.3?

For 3.3 we’re likely shifting to language packs, so the build and update processes will change pretty substantially.

Sorry for the inconvenience – if a bug report was submitted after 3.2, we probably could have figured out an exception.

Thanks for the information about the new language pack implementation. I will decide what to do with it.

Could you add me as a validator for the Android translation in Japanese?
My wp.org user name is “tai”.
