I’m seeing two unknown names in the 3.4 credits: along with the historical fr_FR translators (with their pictures), I’m seeing two other names — that are not even present in the fr.wp.org users. How come?

Anyone with a Validator role or above on fr.wordpress.org are listed as validators. (They’re the ones with the gravatars.) Anyone who submitted a string since 3.3 was released (so December 10) get their names listed, as long as the string was approved (even if the string is no longer current).

Ah, right, forgot about GlotPress again. Thanks for the reminder, Andrew!

Zé, a reminder to double-check Chouf1’s presence as a WP fr_FR translator, please Others are fair game 🙂
    Thanks!

About Twenty-Ten: Wondering whether “, ” was a list separator or a numeric separator (y’know, 1, 000.55 and all that), I went into the theme’s code, and sure enough, there was a “translators:” indication… but somehow potbot doesn’t integrate it into the POT. Could that be resolved, so as to help us get a quicker grasp of the context for a string?

    Thanks guys!

    Hi guys!

Credits page: For fr_FR, please remove nbtetreault, lionel_chollet, applimed, qbert72, drouq_, and guidebook. Only Lionel has done any work that I know of on WP’s translation, and he hasn’t been active for years.

    Thanks!

Validators for FR are: mabln, chouf1, z720, momo360modena, fairweb and you… see https://wppolyglots.wordpress.com/2011/06/08/everyone-is-requesting-to-remove-inactive-validators-so/#comment-2965 also.

I wonder where all the guys listed in /credits are from, then… Anyways, work in progress you said, alright.

As for WP’s translation, you can safely remove validator rights from z720 (not involved in WPFR anymore, or from afar at best). I think chouf1 might be removable too (only takes part in BuddyPress’ translation AFAIK).
Fairweb did her fair (heh!) share of translation in the early days, so I have no qualms against her. Same for matbln, and lent a helping hand in 2006/2007.

        Thanks!

There are quite a few TwentyEleven strings in the WordPress POT. Since we already have access to the TwentyEleven POT, could those strings be moved out now, so as to not translate strings which are going to be removed eventually?

    Thanks a lot.

TwentyEleven strings are now omitted from the WP POT, the TwentyEleven will be committed regularly and automatically, and its contents are synced with the GlotPress project.

Thanks a lot for the speedy answer, Nikolay!

How about the strings that were translated before the move. Are they lost? Should they be retranslated?

I see some familiar strings in Twenty Eleven, but also miss some strings. There were some colours, that were quite a challenge to translate, that is not there now.

    Hey there,

Currently proofreading the Jetpack translation in poEdit (thanks to the export option). I’d like to be validator on the fr_FR section so as to upload the .po back.

    Merci !

Okay, okay, I know it’s late in the process, we’re deeeeep into string freeze, and RC3 means the final release is around the corner.

Still, I did a proof-reading of as many strings in context for the fr_FR translation, and stumbled upon this: the Most Recent strings in the /wp-admin/nav-menus.php is applied to both Articles and Pages, and in French, these needs to be different, ‘cos one is masculine, and the other feminine.

Sadly, unlike in other parts of the POT where there is differenciation a-plenty, there is none to be found here. Currently, the translation applies the feminine form to Article, while it should masculine (“Les plus récent” instead of “Les plus récentes”).

Hence, two questions I have. First one to other translators: do you also have this issue in this language? Second, to Zé and other core-team member: could a quick change be made, or should we wait for 3.1.1?

(I have the nagging feeling I already brought this up for 3.0, but can’t find the reference somehow)
